We are now seeking exhibitors and sponsors for the 3rd Annual Southside STEAM Expo! – CLOSED FOR 2016

What is the Southside STEAM Expo?

Now in its third year, the Southside STEAM Expo is a community event where adults and kids alike can visit a wide variety of exhibitor booths that allow them to imagine, create, build and/or problem solve through engaging, interactive activities that demonstrate just how much fun, amazing and awesome Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math can be! In addition to activities at the exhibitor booths, the Expo includes live animals, presentations, and performances, all of which focus on STEAM. The Expo is held in two buildings at the Coweta County Fairgrounds, is open to the entire community and is organized by Odyssey Charter School.

What’s New for 2016?

  • Robotics Program—All proceeds from the 3rd Annual Southside STEAM Expo will help fund the newly established Robotics Program at Odyssey Charter School.
  • Robotics Competition— The Southside STEAM Expo will host a Robotics Competition in partnership with Georgia BEST and Fernbank LINKS Robotics. During the competition, teams from numerous schools will demonstrate the designs and capabilities of their robots. The official BEST Inc. Paydirt Robotics competition field will be used for the event.
  • Touch-A-Truck–The 4th Annual Touch A Truck event, organized by Odyssey Charter School PTO, will be held at the fairgrounds on the same day. Each year, this event draws over 1000 adults and children who want to get up close to all of their favorite vehicles like police cars, fire and rescue trucks, race cars, construction vehicles and more. Since many of those careers involve STEAM, these events are a perfect combination!
  • Explorer Competition–The Coweta County Fire Department will be hosting an Explorer Competition for youth ages 12-21 at the fairgrounds on the same day. Explorers compete against each other in relay races, bucket brigades and obstacle courses, all firefighter style! Explorers come from all over the country to participate.
  • BBQ Competition–The City of Fairburn Fire Department will be hosting a BBQ Competition for up to 20 teams with proceeds going to benefit Muscular Dystrophy.
