Mark Hofer is our Physical Education teacher at Odyssey Charter School. He graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) and a minor in Secondary Education. Along with a teaching license in both Tennessee and Georgia, he is CPR and First Aid Certified by the Red Cross, and he is a member of the Tennessee Obesity Task Force. He has worked in both middle and elementary schools in Tennessee and Georgia since graduating, and he looks forward to building a new program here at Odyssey. Coach Hofer says he was inspired to become a teacher when he was working towards his Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts. The ways he saw his fellow scouts learning and growing were the first signs he remembers that were pointing him toward teaching.
Outside of teaching, Coach Hofer spends time with his wife, daughter and dog. He enjoys woodworking, furniture making, camping, hiking, canoeing, swimming and many other activities that keep him and his family engaged. His favorite sports to practice are snowboarding, golf, tennis, basketball, soccer, and team handball. He enjoys watching football, soccer and golf when he has the time. Coach Hofer says that his number one bucket list item is to snowboard Whistler Blackcomb in the Pacific Coast mountains.
Coach Hofer is so grateful to be part of the Odyssey family and he looks forward to watching his students grow and mature here.
