7th & 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher
Dr. Matt Jackson is a 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher who joined the Odyssey staff at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. He earned his Doctorate and Specialist degrees in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, FL and his Masters in Educational Administration and Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA. He has earned a History in Secondary Schools certification as well. He spent nineteen years teaching and coaching in the Coweta County School System before joining the Odyssey family. He taught various K-5 grades and subjects at Arnco-Sargent Elementary School, Northside Elementary School, and Thomas Crossroads Elementary School, and he coached soccer, football, and track and field at Evans Middle School and soccer at Northgate High School. His wife Tambra teaches ESOL at White Oak Elementary School after having taught at both Northgate High School and Newnan High School. She also teaches English classes to students in China. They have six children spread from Europe to Montana, with one who will play soccer for Valdosta State University, one who serves in the Army, and one who was an Odyssey scholar for two years. The entire family, but especially Dr. Jackson, is involved with and enjoys soccer, especially attending Atlanta United games. He is an active soccer referee, assignor, and administrator from the younger levels to the professional and college levels. He has been selected to referee three NCAA Final Fours. He and his family enjoy traveling, reading, and soccer, of course!
