Patrick Thompson is the music teacher and band director here at Odyssey Charter School. In 2005, Mr. Thompson graduated from Clayton State University with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Composition. In February of 2005, he began teaching private guitar lessons in Newnan, GA. It was then that he realized his passion to teach music to young people. Since then, he has taught over 10,000 lessons in a variety of string instruments and voice. He has taught general music, band, and chorus since 2009. He is a member of the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), and the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA).
He is a strong proponent of the arts in education, and believes it is the duty of a music educator to provide an engaging environment where students can bridge gaps in learning that may occur in all subjects taught. Mr. Thompson invites you to join him in this endeavor to make your talented young musician shine brightly!
Mr. Thompson and his lovely wife, Ashley, are the parents of four beautiful children. They live in downtown Newnan where they enjoy walks to the park and strolls around the square. His favorite letter of the alphabet is “G” for guitar. His musical ambition began at age eleven when he could not stop playing the guitar! His bucket list includes watching an Italian sunset with his wife in Montepulciano.
