Parent-Teacher-Student Led Conferences

aptt-logo

Odyssey participates in two unique types of conferences – Academic Parent-Teacher Teams (APTT) and Student Led Conferences (SLC).

What is APTT or Academic Parent Teacher Teams?

For grades K-8th – It’s like a parent teacher conference, but data and goal driven. During the meeting you will be taught how to read a data graph based on an assessment on a basic skill. The graph  shows your child’s current score compared to where they should be scoring in the fall, spring and winter. It also shows  how they compare to the class as a whole. You’ll also get activities to practice at home to build your child’s skills.

When are the meetings?

We will have 2 meetings each year (K-3rd is on a Tuesday and 4th – 8th is on a Thursday) and each meeting is important to attend. The Daily News will announce the dates and provide the link to sign up, including the sign up for childcare.  You may also check the Title I Parent and Family Engagement Calendar for dates.

What can I do with my child during the meetings?

We are having childcare for school age students and the meeting starts PROMPTLY at 6pm, so you’ll need to get here a little early to check the kids in to childcare and park.

What if I have more than 1 child at Odyssey?

You can invite any adult who works with your child to come to the other class – this means aunts, uncles and grandparents are welcome!

If you don’t have someone else to come, then you will have 15 minutes after the first meeting ends to stop in with the K-8th grade teachers of your other children and pick up their materials.

What if I can’t make it that night?

Please email your teacher or the Parent Involvement Coordinator (L’Anne Waldroup – lwaldroup@odysseycharterschool.net) to make arrangements for a “make-up” session as soon as possible. The goals we set are for 60 days, so it’s best to be as close to the meeting date as possible.

Do I need to RSVP?

Yes! If you haven’t already, please RSVP online.

I need more information. Who do I contact?

Our Parent Involvement Coordinator (L’Anne Waldroup – lwaldroup@odysseycharterschool.net) is available! PIC@odysseychartershool.net and 770-251-6111.

What are Student Led Conferences?

Student Led Conferences are a conference style in which the student takes the lead! The student presents their portfolio of work and data to their parents with the assistance of the teacher.

When are the meetings?

Each student will have a fall and a spring Student Led Conference. Your teacher will work with you to schedule your time slot.

What can I do with my child during the meetings?

Your student will lead the meeting, but doesn’t need any distractions from siblings. We ask that you make arrangements for siblings to wait outside.

What if I have more than 1 child at Odyssey?

You can email both teachers to try and coordinate their Student Led Conferences to be on the same day.

What if I can’t make it that day?

Coordinate with your child’s teacher to see if they can swap for a different day.

Do I need to RSVP?

Yes! Your teacher needs time to help your student prepare their portfolio.

I need more information. Who do I contact?

Contact your student’s homeroom teacher for more information.
